Case study: a neighbourhood bar that asks for reviews without interrupting service

Illustrative case study. The business and names are fictional: we tell this story so you can see how Tocky is set up in a place like yours. These are not a real customer’s results and we don’t promise a number of reviews.

The situation

El Rincón de Marta (fictional name) is a neighbourhood bar with a counter, 8 tables and two waiters. The regulars are happy, but on Google it has few reviews and almost all of them are old. When someone searches for "bar near me", other places with more recent reviews show up first.

Marta doesn’t want to go from table to table asking for reviews or show a printed QR that nobody scans. She wants something that’s just there, explains itself and doesn’t take time away from service.

What she sets up

Pack of 4 acrylic plates with wooden stand (tables) €49.90
Acrylic NFC plate on the bar, next to the card terminal €14.90
Adhesive plate on the door €14.90
2 NFC cards, one per waiter (€8.90 each) €17.80
Total before volume discount €97.50

Products: pack of 4 plates with stand, acrylic plate, adhesive plate and staff card. For the other 4 tables she can add more plates or 30 mm NFC stickers.

How she uses it day to day

  • When taking payment: the waiter leaves the bill and says, the same at every table: "would you leave us your opinion on Google? Just tap your phone here". The customer taps the plate and the Google review page opens directly. No apps.
  • At the table: the plate is in view while they wait. Anyone who wants to share their opinion does so without being asked.
  • On the door: the adhesive plate also works outside opening hours, for example so people can see the Instagram.

What she checks in the dashboard

From the free dashboard Marta sees how many taps the plates get and can change the destination whenever she likes (Google, Instagram, the menu…) without touching the plate. If she later wants to know which table or which waiter generates the most taps, that comes with Tocky Plus.

What she doesn’t do

She doesn’t ask for reviews only from people who seem happy or offer anything in return: the plate is there for everyone. That way she follows Google’s rules and the reviews that come in are genuine.
