Tocky League and Tocky score: what they are and how to climb the ranks in your city

Every business that uses a Tocky plate gets more than a plate: it appears in a public directory, receives a Tocky score from 0 to 100 and competes every month in its city’s Tocky League. In this article we explain what each one is, what it’s for and what you can honestly do to move up the table.
What the Tocky score is
The Tocky score is a score from 0 to 100 that sums up your business’s real activity with its Tocky plates. It isn’t a quality rating of your food, your haircut or your service, and it doesn’t replace Google reviews: it’s an indicator of how you’re using your plates to connect with your customers.
What matters is what it doesn’t do:
- It can’t be bought. It’s based on real activity, not on how much you spend.
- It isn’t based on made-up opinions. It’s calculated from recorded activity.
- It isn’t forever. It’s updated, so it reflects how you’re doing now, not a year ago.
You can see your city’s table on the Tocky League page, which also explains the current rules.
What the Tocky League is
The Tocky League is a monthly ranking by city. Every month the Tocky businesses in each city are ranked by their Tocky score and the table is published.
The trophy
On the 1st of each month, the champion of each city with at least 3 participating businesses is crowned and shows the trophy on its directory listing. Prizes: yet to be announced. If you have an active Tocky plate, you’re in.
Why it exists
Asking for reviews, followers or menu visits is a routine that’s easily forgotten when you’re busy. The League makes that routine visible and a bit competitive. It works especially well with teams: “we’re third in the city this month” is more motivating than “remember to ask for the review”.
What the business directory is
The Tocky business directory is a public page listing the businesses that use Tocky. For customers it’s a way to discover local businesses; for you, it’s one more place to appear and one more link to your business.
How to move up in your city
Since the score is based on real activity, the way to climb is for your customers to use your plates more. These are the practices that make the most sense:
1. Place the plates where customers have their phone in hand
Next to the card terminal, on the bar, at reception, on the dressing-table mirror. Nobody taps a plate hidden behind a display. If in doubt, check each plate’s taps in the dashboard and move them.
2. One card per team member
Waiters, technicians, home-service professionals: each with their own NFC card. As well as adding activity, the dashboard tells you who shows it most.
3. Use each plate for what makes sense
Reviews at the till, the menu on the tables, Instagram at the entrance. You can change where each plate points from the dashboard whenever you like. For example, an NFC sticker on each table for the menu and an acrylic plate at the till for reviews.
4. Always ask everyone, the same way
A set phrase when taking payment: “One tap here lets you leave us your opinion on Google, whatever it is.” No incentives and no filtering who you ask; that’s what Google’s policies require, and it keeps the activity real.
5. Reply to reviews
The dashboard notifies you of every new review. Replying quickly and personally encourages other customers to write. If you get a negative one, there are templates in how to reply to negative Google reviews.
6. Check the monthly report
Every month you get a report with your plates’ activity. Compare it with the previous month and with your position in the League to see what worked.
What doesn’t work (and you shouldn’t do)
- Tapping the plates yourself over and over. The score is designed to reflect real customer activity; inflating it adds nothing to your business and spoils the competition.
- Offering customers prizes for leaving a review. It breaks Google’s policies.
- Asking only happy customers. Google doesn’t allow that either.
What if my city has few Tocky businesses?
A city needs at least 3 participating businesses to crown a champion. With less competition it’s easier to be near the top, and every Tocky business that joins in your city makes the league livelier.
